When a mysterious client hires Penn Gwinn, a private investigator in San Rafael, California, to locate a legendary opal called the Aqualene, known in Australian Aborigine heritage as “The Eye of God,” Penn thinks it will be a quick buck. He has no idea that he is about to become involved in a bizarre pursuit for the Aqualene, taking him through Mexico and on to Australia, attracting many so-called friends and allies along the way. In this wild, convoluted case, Penn deals with phony detectives, seductive female agents, and a confrontation with an international criminal syndicate called the Quad Lateral Council that leaves a long trail of bodies. In the chase for the Aqualene, nothing is as it seems!
